Tonight at 8 p.m. CH Distillery (564 W Randolph) continues with another installment of its guest bartender series with James Beard award-winning Charles Joly. Joly will create two cocktails: one with CH spirits and one wildcard with ingredients of his choosing. A portion of the proceeds will go to Un86'd, a local charity that aids in monetary relief for restaurant professionals in need. The guest bartender series will continue through August.
Starting at 6 p.m., guest chefs Alfredo Nogueira of Analogue, Ryan Pfeiffer of Blackbird, and Aaron Thebeault of Girl & The Goat will join CH Distillery's executive chef Bobby Mayo for "That's What Cheese Said," where each chef will create a unique grilled cheese of their choosing. Cocktails and grilled cheeses will be served until midnight while DJ Bart Lazar takes care of the tunes.
The Chicago Writers Conference hosts its annual fundraiser, Party with a Purpose, tonight from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, 3905 N. Lincoln Ave. The theme this year is "Bad Poetry Night" -- come hear special guests Monica Eng, Tasha Robinson, Pat Byrnes and James Kennedy read bad poetry and other random things. "Outside the Loop's" Michael Stephens emcees. There will also be appetizers and a silent auction. Tickets are $50 or $90 for two, and include one drink ticket.
It's gonna get swine-y at the Berkshire Room, 15 E. Ohio St., at tonight's kickoff party for Bacon Month. Bacon-enhanced cocktails, small bites, and a swag bag are yours for the $30 admission. Event runs 7-10pm.
The Von Trapp family from The Sound of Music was real, and their descendents still perform today. The grandchildren of the Captain and Maria von Trapp are playing tonight at SPACE, 1245 Chicago Ave. in Evanston, at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15-$27.
The Moth StorySLAM is back at Martyrs', 3855 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight at 8pm. If you've got a true story to tell, get there early and put your name in the hat and hope you're picked. Otherwise, enjoy as a bunch of folks tell some great stories. $8 at the door. 21+
The members of the amazing Chicago band Joan of Arc will have a month long residency at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Every Tuesday evening in March you will get a chance to see the members of the band perform and a few guests including some DJs, short films by Todd Mattei, and readings presented by Featherproof Books. The final night of Joan of Arc's month long residency will feature performances by Owlsand Love of Everything. starting things off followed by Tim, Melina, Leroy and Sam singing the songs of Marvin Tate. These 21+ shows start at 9pm. Tickets are $10 or you can go to all five for $40.
