Chicago Latino Film Festival
The 31st annual Chicago Latino Film Festival runs April 9-23 at the AMC River East 21, 322 E. Illinois St. Today's lineup includes 10 films, beginning at 6pm; see the schedule for full details. Tickets are $12 per film, $10 for members of the Illinois Latino Cultural Center. Film passports, good for 12 admissions, are $110.
Black Dogs and Melancholy@Chief O'Neill's Pub
"A Play, a Pie and a Pint" is the theme of tonight's Black Dogs and Melancholy, a dramatic reading with music based on the writings of Samuel Johnson and James Boswell. The reading is adapted by June Sawyers and directed by Si Osborne. Tickets are $25 and can be bought online or at the door (cash or check only). Chief O'Neill's is at 3471 N. Elston. First Time: First Lie @ Martyrs'
CHIRP presents the latest edition of its First Time reading series, in which true stories of firsts are told and accompanied by a song played by the First Time Three, tonight at 8pm at Martyrs', 3855 N. Lincoln Ave. Tonight's show is "First Lies," and features Ben Joravsky, Alison Flowers, David McMillin, Bente Englestoft, Sean Bair Flannery, Sondra Morin and Bobby Evers. CHIRP DJ CHIRP DJ Jenn Sodini hosts. Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit CHIRP Radio. 21+
