In These Times Release Party

In These Times hosts a release party for its new issue tonight from 6:30 to 9:30pm in its offices at 2040 N. Milwaukee Ave., second floor. The party will feature a panel discussion with ReFund America director Saqib Bhatti speaking on his cover story on a strategy for American cities to stop losing millions to Wall Street. Veteran labor strategist Stephen Lerner, 35th Ward Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, and In These Times Editor Micah Uetricht will also speak. Free copies of the issue as well as drinks and snacks will be available.

So This Is Paris @ Northeastern Illinois

The Northwest Chicago Film Society has moved to the Auditorium at Northeastern Illinois University, Building E, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., and tonight's film is So This Is Paris, a 1926 silent film presented in partnership with the Chicago Silent Film Society and featuring live organ accompaniment. The film is at 7pm. Ticket's are $5.

Lauren Holmes @ Women & Children First

Lauren Holmes reads from her debut story collection Barbara the Slut and Other People tonight at 7:30pm at Women & Children First Bookstore, 5233 N. Clark. Admission is free, and a book signing follows the reading.

Story Club Chicago @ Black Rock Pub

Story Lab Chicago celebrates new stories from fresh storytellers. Tonight Story Lab features: Hallie Rosen, Jordan Blythe, Steve Coombs, Paul Conrad, Sean Ewert, and Anna Besmann! Come to Black Rock Pub & Kitchen, 3614 N. Damen, to hear some great stories. Doors open at 6:30pm, stories start at 7:30pm. Free!
