The San Francisco-based chef and author, whose pizza is very Chicago-like (I've had it and can attest to its qualities), comes to Read It & Eat (2142 N. Halsted) tonight for a dough-tossing demo, book signing for his newest tome The Pizza Bible, and Q&A. Event runs 6:30-8:30pm. Tickets $10.
Beneath The Belt, a new monthly series hosted by Belt Magazine, discusses the topic "What is the Rust Belt? And is Chicago in It?" tonight at 6:30pm at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. The discussion will include Belt Editor-in-Chief Martha Bayne and special guests writer Ben Schulman, Reader political editor Robin Amer, Mike Holzer of North Branch Works, and UIC professor of urban planning Rachel Weber. $5 suggested donation. 21+
Pop-Up Magazine stops in Chicago at Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. tonight at 7:30pm. The line-up includes photographer Matt Black, Oscar-nominated director Sam Green, WBEZ radio reporter Linda Lutton, plus local guests for an all-ages performance!
