The Society of Architectural Historians presents its Awards for Architectural Excellence tonight at the Women's Athletic Club, 626 N. Michigan. The event begins at 5:30 with a tour of the 1929 building designed by Philip Maher. Awards will be presented at 7pm, after a 6pm cocktail reception and auction. Tickets are $175. Awards are being presented to architectural writer Paul Goldberger, architect Gunny Harboe and preservationist Richard Longstreth. SAH headquarters are at the Charnley-Persky House on Astor Street.
Foundations of Music presents its 27th annual Rock for Kids benefit auction at Park West, 322 W. Armitage Ave., tonight at 6:30pm. Bid on music memorabilia and other cool stuff, with proceeds supporting the foundation's music literacy programs. Tickets are $150, or $100 for those 30 and under.
The Interview Show is back at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight from 6:30 to 8pm. In partnership with the Chicago Architecture Biennial and the Association of Architecture, host Mark Bazer welcomes guests Gia Biagi of Studio Gang, Thomas Kelley of Norman Kelley Design/Architecture Collaborative, Art Institute of Chicago Modern Wing Curator James Roundeau, and musical guest Jennifer Hall. Bad Feminist and An Untamed State author and cultural critic Roxane Gay will discuss her work with Lindsay Hunter, author of Don't Kiss Me tonight from 8-9:00 pm at the Francis W.
