Martyrs hosts a benefit concert for Chicago drummer Tim Mallott, still recuperating after a motorcycle accident in August. Tonight's concert will feature The Hepkats, Bad Forum, and Sex Therapy. Beers and Big Shoulders returns to the upstairs lounge at Hopleaf, 5148 N. Clark St., tonight at 7:30pm. This month, host Joe Huminiak talks with Randy Mosher, Robert Finkel and BJ Pichman of Forbidden Root Brewery. They'll talk about how the brewery got its start, what its philosophy is, and probably a bit about the taproom they're preparing to open. Tickets are $25, and include four beer samples and some snacks. 21+
