A Lovely Alternative to Valentines Day
They say the opposite of Love is Hate. But this Valentines Day at the Logan Square Auditorium, the opposite of Love is Hilarity, Charity and possibly Intoxication.
Thanks to the love-filled partnership of the Chicago Reader, 2nd Story, WBEZ and Empty Bottle, Chicago will be graced with the Third Annual Anti-Valentines Day Party on Tuesday 14 February. Chicago comedians Seth and Kellen will be hosting this shindig and will also be the night's official demolisher of ex memorabilia; everything from T-shirts to love letters to saved nail clippings will destroyed. In between the destroying (and healing) 2nd Story will be regaling the audience with the best bad date stories.
And if that wasn't fantastic enough for you, the ladies from the Chicago Windy City Rollers will be on skates to hand-roll Valentines to any potential love interests. All the proceeds from the Valentines go to Barrel of Monkeys , an art education theater ensemble that works with under-served students in Chicago. Black Belles with also be entertaining the anti-v-day crowd with their lady rocker stylings.
Clearly this is going to be a rocktastic night not just for the anti-ers but also the lovers of Chicago. It is a night to bond over stories of miserable dates, Chicago-bred comedy and the love of powerful women on skates or with guitars, all for the bargain price of $14.
Doors for Anti-Valentines Day Party are at 7:00 and the show starts at 8:00 at the Logan Square Auditorium, 2539 N. Kedzie Blvd.
