Author Love

What writer have you been loving lately?

The last series that I read in one go was Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books. She's a Literary Tech agent in the UK in an alternate reality.

She pops in and out of great novels fighting crime. For anyone who is a serious reader, this is a very fun romp through your library.

The Eyre Affair
Well of Lost Plots
Lost in a Good Book
Something Rotten

Oh, good call. I love Jasper Fforde. I love the Thursday Next books, and I've been reading his Nursery Crimes series, too. So much fun to read.

It's a comic book series, but I've also been loving Bill Willingham's Fables series in a big way, too. I cannot wait for volume 9 to come out next month!

Nick Hornby! I've been reading his collections of essays on books/reading ("The Polysyllabic Spree" and "Housekeeping Vs. The Dirt"). Good stuff.

Alice / May 17, 2007 5:55 PM

I'm ashamed to admit that Nick Hornby is one of those writers that I've always meant to read, but haven't gotten around to yet. I might have to finally check him out this year...

I went on a total Douglas Coupland bender this spread and read 4 or 5 of his books. I absolutely love them, and "Hey, Nostradamus" is quite appropriate given the recent Virginia Tech incident. And Generation X was as good as the hype.
