I'm a sucker for the Cadfael series by Ellis Peters. I also love "The Daughter of Time" by Josephine Tey, and enjoy Ian Pear's "art history mysteries." And I still love Agatha Christie. She was the best.
In this debut novel, high school English teacher Peter Ferry witnesses a fatal car accident and becomes obsessed with learning about the life of the victim, Lisa Kim.
Join us at The Book Cellar at 4736-38 N. Lincoln Ave. (map) to discuss the book. We'll meet on Monday, November 9, at 7:30pm. New members are always welcome!

Laurie R. King! I'm re-reading the Russell & Holmes series just now. Have you seen this series, where Holmes has a young, feminist sidekick? Great stuff. King also writes the Matinelli series about a San Fran cop.
Sara Paretsky is a close second.
