Unwanted

What do you do with books you no longer want to keep? Resell, donate or toss?

I bring them back to the library.

Andrew / March 20, 2008 11:37 AM

I usually donate them. I used to try selling them to used bookstores, but they've gotten really picky.

Toss? Why that's just sacrilege! Donate, give away, share, sometimes sell.

Bookmooch!

It's awesome. I get rid of books I don't want, and get ones I want in return.

I second bookmooch. It's super-duper awesome.

Heather / March 24, 2008 3:08 PM

I donate them to the Newberry Library for their annual end of July book sale. You can find out more at: http://www.newberry.org/giving/bookgifts.html
A quick caveat - I volunteer at the Book Fair (a really fun experience IMO)

Samantha / March 26, 2008 8:34 PM

For the least effort involved category - you could put them in the community book exchange boxes. There are three that I've spotted throughout the city. I'm a big fan. They are at:
Logan Square - the corner with Johnny's Grill and Lula
Wicker Park - outside of Quimby's
West Town(?) - outside of Permanent Records on Chicago

I usually check out what Powell's will take and donate the rest to local groups.

Salvation Army, Bookswap at the Shedd volunteer office, Reader Bookswap, giving it away at work ..these are some of my recent attempts. But this bookmooch sounds better.
