Tonight! Fiction journal Birkensnake throws a participatory release party for its sixth issue at Uncharted Books, 7pm.

Saturday! Cole's Bar hosts Emergency Assembly Reading with M. Bartley Seigel, Jac Jemc, Daniela Olszewska, Mason Johnson, James Tadd Adcox, and Brooks Sterritt, 6:30pm.

Saturday! The Chicago Literary Hall of Fame inducts this year's class of six historically important writers at Roosevelt University, 7pm.

Saturday! Memoryhouse presents its first-ever Chapbook Festival with performances by poets Kenyatta Rogers, Eric Elshtain, Jennifer Karmin, and Stephanie Anderson at Noyes Hall at the University of Chicago, 7-9:30pm. Free.

Saturday! Myopic Poetry Series presents Ouija: A reading/séance co-sponsored by Convulsive Editions, "a micro-press that publishes affordable, well-designed chapbooks, broadsides, french folds, and other printed matter featuring lyrical writing that quakes and rattles," 7pm.

Saturday! Mortified Live stories of teen angst at Schuba's Tavern, doors at 6:30, show at 7pm.

Saturday and Sunday! Free creative writing classes taught by graduate students at Northwestern University.

Sunday! That's All She Wrote will feature readings by Wendy McClure, Jen Bosworth, Rebecca Keller, and Whit Nelson at Swim Cafe, 8pm.

Sunday! The Renaissance Society presents the Black Is, Black Ain't book launch and symposium featuring panelists Thelma Golden, Bennett Simpson, Huey Copeland, Kellie Jones and Hamza Walker at Kent Hall at the University of Chicago, 2pm.
