Resolve to Get Published

It's a new year, and the beginning of January is the traditional time to make resolutions. If you're an aspiring writer, maybe this is the year you start to get published -- or published more often, if you already have a couple bylines under your belt.

Another Chicago Magazine is calling for submissions for its 52nd issue. Fiction, nonfiction and poetry accepted.

Chicago Literati is calling for submissions for its upcoming TV issue. They're looking for essays and fiction about TV shows, the role of television in culture, or whatever else you might think of. Pieces should be no longer than 2,000 words.

The Chicago Review publishes two issues a year filled with fiction, nonfiction and poetry. The submissions page provides details on what the editors are looking for and the lengths and other requirements for each writing form.

Inland magazine, edited by GB alumna Britt Julious, is looking for articles for its debut issue, including personal essays, original reporting, interviews, photo essays, and fiction. Deadline is Feb. 15.

Poetry magazine accepts submissions year-round. The work must be unpublished -- including online. But they pay!

And of course Gapers Block is always open to new contributors, in the Book Club section as well as others. Read our submissions info and send a couple samples our way.
