Detour

This portfolio is composed of sixteen photographs exploring Chicago's radically changing impoverished neighborhoods, half of which were taken during the day and the other at night. The daytime images document human interaction with the immediate built environment, including the informal use of semi-public space and the formal absence of investment in the physical infrastructure. The nighttime photographs are more abstracted, focusing on the structural conditions and institutional factors affecting the neighborhoods, including the Plan for Transformation and human consumption practices.
