It's state fair season. The Wisconsin State Fair just ended its run, while the Illinois, Indiana and Iowa State Fairs continue through Aug. 19 and Minnesota and Michigan's carry on through Labor Day Weekend. State fairs are great weekend road trips — eat unusual foods (most of them on the end of a stick), check out cute animals, sample the state's produce (make sure to hit the wine tent at the Illinois State Fair!) and people-watch to your heart's content.
Cinnamon and I went to Wisconsin State Fair with some friends this past weekend. Highlights included rootbeer-flavored milk (actually, maybe that was a lowlight), the llama costume parade, amazing student crafts and all the fried food you can imagine. Sadly, there were no butter sculptures to be had, and the sheep had left the building. Hopefully these photos help you get a sense of what the state fair is like, and encourage you to make a trip this weekend.
