Make Your Water Taste Good

As is recommended, I drink a lot of water, especially in the summer. These days, I've been adding some mottled mint or sliced cucumber. When feeling really adventurous, I'll add both. Any way you go, it's more fun than the simple lemon with water and rather refreshing.

If you want your water really cucumber-y or minty, add the extras to a pitcher and keep it covered in the refridgerator. Don't let it sit more than a day though.

I love cucumber water, but I also like a squeeze of lime instead of lemon.

You're right about not leaving mint of cukes in overnight -- or limes, for that matter. They'll turn the water bitter.

Yum. I've also heard you can do the same with lemon balm leaves. Anyone ever tried it?

Interesting idea, peanut -- I wonder if lemongrass would work, too.

I bet lemongrass would be good. Whenever I cook with it, I steep the leftover, tougher stalks (I wash them first) in hot water. It makes good tea.

interestingly enough, a friend just sent me this story about cucumber flavored Pepsi in Japan: http://news.yahoo.com/photo/070613/481/xjk10706130927;_ylt=ApTq.WzAWJXt0VkjPQKSosYDW7oF

Drinking in Buenos Aires

By Gemma Petrie

In May I traveled to Buenos Aires and spent a week eating and drinking in South America's second largest metropolis. Many guidebooks are quick to peg Argentina as the place to drink Malbec. While this is true, Argentina has much...
