First Look at the Dill Pickle Food Co-op

DillPickle 8.jpg
After five years of planning, the Logan Square Dill Pickle Food Co-op opened its doors this past Saturday to overwhelming community support. This member-owned co-op aims to offer affordable local, sustainable and organic goods to members and non-members alike.

The co-op shelves are full of products from high-quality local food producers like Black Dog Gelato, Pasta Puttana, Filbert's Root Beer and Prairie Fruits Farm. Dill Pickle provides a large selection of produce, fresh baked breads, meats, cheeses, hormone free dairy, pet products and baking items, along with grains, beans and other dry goods in a large bulk grocery section.

Opening weekend was so busy that Dill Pickle took Monday off to restock and organize for the coming week. As of December 8, Dill Pickle will resume their regular hours. If you missed opening weekend you can still join in on the grand opening, this Saturday, December 12. For more information, including how to become a member, visit the Dill Pickle Food Co-op website or blog. You can also follow them on Twitter. More photos of the store can be found in the Gapers Block Drive-Thru Flickr pool.
