Happy National Donut Day!
Today, June 1, is the 75th annual National Donut Day, the Salvation Army's annual fundraiser. There's a free concert on the plaza in front of Millennium Park Grill today from 10am to 2pm, featuring performances by The Salvation Army Bermuda Divisional Band, Jamie Lono from NBC's "The Voice, "and the jazz group Entourage. Make a donation and you'll get a hangtag that enters you in a contest to win free Entenmann's donuts for a year.
In addition to special deals at local Dunkin' Donuts, several local bakeries and donut shops are also getting into the spirit. Dinkel's, 3329 N. Lincoln Ave., is giving away one free sour cream donut with every purchase, while supplies last. Do-Rite Donuts, 50 W. Randolph St., will be serving special donuts until 2pm. And at Fritz Pastry, 1408 W. Diversey Pkwy., donuts are just $2.
