Election Night Food Fun

bdhfbd.jpgAfter you vote (polls open 6am-7pm!), you want to see the returns in style (or forget it even is going on), right? A few ideas for Tuesday night shenanigans: Avec (615 West Randolph) is hosting a five-course meal ($55) complete with wine pairings from Luis Pato, who will be in house to talk vino with diners; showing your voter receipt gets you a free glass of his sparking wine to finish the evening. WBEZ will be holding court at Schuba's, 3159 North Southport, with 312 beer specials and a champagne toast--and your voter receipt earns you a free dessert with dinner. Maria's Packaged Goods (960 West 31st Street) serves up election-themed cocktails (the "Mint Romney" apertif, etc.).

If you're staying in, you might want to try a menu directly from the White House--a grilled skirt steak with poblano sauce and sauteed spinach, Jill Biden's chicken parmesan or the Obama's chili, washed down with their homebrewed beer and finished off with Michelle's white and dark chocolate chip cookies, which won this year's Family Circle Presidential Cookie Bake-Off. If you want to keep it Romney style, stick to pita, hummus, peanut butter, and honey. Be sure to keep some crow around, in case that's what Mitt's eating Tuesday night.
