Sweating.
Drinking water, taking it easy.
We've got central air at home, so we're not doing too bad.
However, my car does not have a/c. Holy crap, is it ever hot.
Strangely enough, I noticed yesterday that I don't really sweat when I drive or walk around in this heat. It's hot, and I'm uncomfortable, but not sweaty.
Nothing. The heat won. I've been spending more time indoors than normal, waiting for fall -- or at least for a few days of weather that's actually seasonable. This is the worst summer in the 12 years I've lived here. I'm also getting sick of all the smug tropical heat lovers who see the need to rub it in how much they LOVE this weather and how they hate a/c. Congratulations, I'm happy for you. Now shut up. I don't do the opposite when it's 5 degrees out and I'm happy while you're miserable.
I've just been taking it easy. I stay in the shade or inside.
My apartment doesn't get very hot even when I don't have the air conditioning on. I'm very lucky that way.
Cheer up, Mike. This too shall pass. And then you'll have a looonng Chicago winter to enjoy.
I love to sweat. I submit to Mother Nature and all her rough manners.
i'm with mike. the heat has beat me and i'm just following the agreed terms of surrender.
Ice cream and iced tea
I'm trying to bottle it and save it for January. Why is it that Chicagoans quickly forget December January, february, March, etc?? You do remember those long months right? When it's not just bitterly bitterly cold but completely DARK at 4.45pm?
It gets cold in Chicago, that's a given. So we can all complain and commiserate a little, but any more than that is sort of dumb since it's Chicago. But this heat is the worst I've experienced here. We've had more heat in the past 40 days than in the first four summers I lived here. And I'm at a point where I'm literally mad at the weather. I know, it's stupid. But God, I just went outside and it is absolutely disgusting at nearly 9:00 p.m. But I hear you on the darkness in the winter Spook. It's depressing. Guess I should just move somewhere that has four solid seasons.
Riding my bike, going on picnics, hanging out at the lake. This is summer! Does anyone remember last year's poor excuse for a summer?
I am LOVING this weather. My hair's a mess and I'm sweating, but at least it's not February.
Count me with Flange and Mike. I need cool, dry outside air every third day or so. Without it, I start to lose my bearings. Sorry to say, but true.
I've been staying inside & now I have cabin fever.
I've also pretty much given up running until the fall. Sad.
For the record, I never complain about the cold here, because to me the swampy heat is infinitely worse.
I will admit that it has been weirdly muggy at night this summer. My apartment has actually been hotter at night than during the day. If I turn the air on at all (and luckily I don't have to much) it's at night. I would love to open the windows instead but that would just make it worse.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'll be glad when summer is over. Grew up in the south, love hot weather, but developed an intolerance to air conditioning (at work and in closed-in quarters such as my apartment and air unit). Gulp. Come on fall.
Getting outside every second possible so I have heat reserves for winter.
Turning the AC up to eleven.
I'm really enjoying icy cold Half Acre brews.

Previously, back in 2005.
I'm staying hydrated, wearing lightweight clothing and enjoying the air conditioning at work.
