DOWNTOWN! People love to sing along.
Total Eclipse of the Heart has the ability to unite a karaoke bar at 2am like no other song I have ever sung.
Gin & Juice
I like to sing a song I wrote myself entitled: I JUST WANTED TO PARTY, BUT NOW I'M IN YOUR BODY!
Joan Jett's "I Love Rock n Roll" every time... which, for the record, is maybe 5 times total.
I once sang "Moving on up", the song from The Jeffersons at a honky tonk in San Antonio, TX. All I could hear was my boyfriend laughing.
"Girl You Know It's True" by Milli Vanilli - I think it's the lycra bike shorts I wear when I sing it that makes it such a crowd-pleaser.
salt n pepa - shoop or dio - rainbow in the dark
Step by Step- New Kids on the Block
Hands down, it's Roger Miller's 1965 classic "King of the Road". On a recent visit to New York, I found a karaoke bar that not only had it, but also had his song, "Dang Me", which begins, "Well here I sit high, gettin' ideas, ain't nothin' but a fool to live like this." Any song that starts like that rules.
I always go with Stevie Wonder. Higher Ground or Superstition...can't avoid the verbal assault, but if he entered the room, he would never recognize me.
carly simon's your so vain!
Danke Schoen, Mack the Knife or Brandy. Thank heavens I *like* that song.
"Eternal Flame" by the Bangles.
"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". But sung like Tom Waits would do it.
I bellow out the complete Commendatore Scene from
Don Giovanni.
It NEVER fails to bring the whole bar- in tears -to a long standing ovation, and I
of course NEVER leave the bar alone, cause I got it like that ;-)
"All the Wine" by The National. I really do feel like it's all for me when I sing it...and get the subsequent stares.
Thanks to last night's event I have a song finally: Wake Me Up Before You Go Go by Wham. Easy, repetitive, fast.
Cheap Trick's "I want you to want me." And as a bonus, it would be in the pastiche of a Morrissey song.

Turns out I can sing a mean "Crazy Train," but it blows my vocal cords for the rest of the night.
