Movies in the Park

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screenings: Flushed Away (PG) at Hiawatha Park (8029 W. Forest Preserve Dr.); Cayo (part of the Puerto Rican Film Series) at Humboldt Park (1400 N. Sacramento Ave.); and The Wizard of Oz (G) at Oz Park (2021 N. Burling St.). Cheese Tasting and Book Signing @ Fox & Obel

Jeffrey P. Roberts, author of the new and surely soon-to-be-classic Atlas of American Artisan Cheeses, will be available for an artisan cheese presentation and book signing at the Fox & Obel Food Market from 1 - 3pm, 401 E. Illinois Street, free. For more information call 312-379-0113.

Home Movie Day

The Chicago Film Archive celebrates Home Movie Day at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington Ave., today. Bring in your 8mm, Super8 and 16mm home movies for inspection between 3 and 6pm, then stick around to show yours and watch others from 6pm to 10pm. Free.

Southport Green Market

Not content with the city's various farmers markets, the Southport Grocery and Cafe (1420 West Grace St.) will host several "Green Market" Saturdays over the summer and into the fall. In addition to showcasing locally grown vegetables, they'll up the ante with everything from flowers to baby food to artisan breads and cheeses on display from local growers and producers. Hours are 8AM - 1PM.

Madison & Friends Store Opening w/Sox Players

Madison and Friends, a new children's clothing boutique, celebrates the opening of its new location at 43 E. Oak St. today. White Sox players A.J. Pierzynski, Jim Thome and Paul Konerko are scheduled to attend the event and sign autographs for fans who donate $40 to Children’s Home + Aid. All merchandise at Madison and Friends and sister store The Denim Lounge will be 20 percent off the day of the event, and Argo Tea will provide drinks and refreshments. Chicago Korean Festival

The festival features Korean cuisine, art, music, and dance, on Bryn Mawr Avenue between Kedzie and Kimball avenues. Saturday activities include a cooking demo and Sunday promises an eating contest and a fashion show. Admission is free. For more information go to www.koreanfestival.org

7 1/2 Cinema: A Tribute to Bergman

Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division, plays host to a tribute to director Ingmar Bergman this Saturday and Sunday, curated by the Chicago Cinema Forum. Here's today's schedule:
1pm: Bergman Complete, a three-part documentary on Bergman's film and theater career and personal life. Chicago Theatrical Premiere!
4:15pm: Sawdust and Tinsel
6pm to 7pm: reception
7pm: Fanny and Alexander

Work Out @ Millennium Park

Bobby Conn & Waco Brothers @ WestFest

The West Town neighborhood hosts its annual WestFest this weekend, featuring vendors selling fine art, high end craft, and handmade goods, and music. Saturday's schedule boasts such artists as Bobby Conn, Califone, The Ponys, the Waco Brothers and many others. Local DJs Zebo and Jesse de la Pena will also be performing at the Lava DJ stage. Great Performers of Illinois @ Millennium Park

Edgewater Farmers Market

The Edgewater Farmers Market takes place every Saturday until October 20 from 7 a.m. to noon at the corner of Broadway and Norwood (on the corner of True Nature Foods).

Palmer Square Boulevard Art Festival

Music, food, art and trolley rides (my fave!) will be abundant at the 4th annual Palmer Square Boulevard Art Festival, which will be held today (and tomorrow) at Palmer Square Park (3100 West Palmer). The festival begins at noon each day, and ends at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:00 p.m. on Sunday.
