Movies in the Park

The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screenings: Dreamgirls (PG-13) at Midway Plaisance Park (1130 Midway Plaisance North); Madea's Family Reunion (PG-13) at Touhy-Herbert Park (2016 W. Adams St.); and School of Rock (PG-13) at River Park (5100 N. Francisco Ave.). The screenings start tonight at dusk, and are free and open to the public. Storytelling as Cultural Memory @ Humboldt Park Library

The Humboldt Park Branch of the Chicago Public Library welcomes noted storyteller, anthropologist and textile artist Ramon Lopez for a discussion on the value of oral history and storytelling as part of cultural identity in Puerto Rico and in Chicago. The audience will be invited to join in the discussion after Lopez's presentation. Free from 6pm-9pm at 1605 N. Troy. Call 312-422-5580 for more information.
