The Chicago Park District presents Movies in the Park, a summer-long screening of classic and contemporary films in Chicago parks. Tonight's screening: The Pursuit of Happyness (PG-13) at Euclid Park (9800 S. Parnell Ave.). The screening starts tonight at dusk, and is free and open to the public. This is the second large-scale mainstream hip-hop show to hit this year. Old schoolers will love to see Big Daddy Kane and MC Lyte; younger will want to hear the Roots and the see the nationwide tour stops of Talib Kweli (who was here with Rock the Bells) and Pharoahe Monch. Tickets are $39 at the box office, and more via ticket distrubution masters.
Doctors without Borders has created this educational exhibit to try to convey the conditions experienced by the millions of people who live in refugee camps. The exhibit is open from 9 AM to 5:30 PM today, and then it leaves for Minneapolis. For more information, visit the website.

This exhibit of nearly 40 maps focuses on three types of Chicago maps: maps that trace past events, maps that trace people's lives, and maps that capture visions of the future. Head to Welles Park today at 1pm for lunch and a rousing bocce tournament to help support Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Got a sweet tooth? Put it to good use at the Andersonville Dessert Crawl, Sun., Sept. 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. Twenty-six local restaurants will provide deserts for gluttonous intake. But consider your sin wiped clean; the event benefits the Andersonville Development Corporation, a non-profit fostering sustainable community and economic development.
