The 15th Annual Cancer Survivors’ Celebration &Walk is the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University’s salute to cancer survivors and the strides made in cancer treatment and research. The celebration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the Walk steps off at 9 a.m. No pledges are required. The $15 registration fee includes a t-shirt, refreshments and all the fun. Registration is $20 on Walk day. Children in strollers are admitted free. Registration is available online until May 30th at www.cancer.northwestern.edu. For additional information call 312.695.1304.
Sine Qua Salons is sponsoring a fashion show fundraiser for Preservation Chicago. Jeff Millbern, Anna Fong, Wolfbait & B.Girls will show clothing alongside a design by Steven Rosengard of "Project Runway." The event is in the Victor Hotel, 311 N Sangamon. The cocktail reception starts at 6:30pm with the hair and fashion show beginning at 8pm. Tickets are $25 and available online. All proceeds will benefit Preservation Chicago.

ArtWorks, an arts organization using the arts to strengthen the community, is hosting an open house this evening at the ArtWorks gallery (4654 N. Racine) from 5:00 to 7:00. There will be refreshments, live music by singers/songwriters Bruce Moon & Jim Cubit, a handmade pinata that attendees will be encourages to take a swipe at, refreshments, and afforable art for visitors to purchase. Join the Red Door Animal Shelter for its eighth annual Gimme Shelter! Walk for the Animals today from 10 am to noon at Indian Boundary Park, 2500 W. Lunt. In addition to the walk, there'll be brunch, a raffle, tarot card readers, dog tricks and treats, and an "animal communication" class for people and their pets. $15 in advance, $20 day of the walk.

The Chicago Artists' Coalition is holding a paint-a-thon today, with more than a dozen artists painting from 1pm to 4pm to raise money for the organization. A live auction will be held from 4pm to 6pm -- go bid on your favorite piece!
