Art in Age of Infinite Reproducibility @ threewallsSALON

It is obvious that the internet, the database and other such technologies have profoundly altered the ways we conceive of, locate, and access knowledge in time and space. The ramifications for artistic practice are, of course, enormous. Artists and theoreticians engaging with this new media have been invited to this discussion to tackle this limitless line of inquiry. One of the many topics that will be discussed is if the internet is making us lazy and what implications this has on art. Should be fun. The discussion starts at 7pm at threewalls: 119 N. Peoria #2D.

Two Door Cinema Club Gemini Club and Blah Blah Blah @ Schubas

It's been a while since the speedy Brit power pop of bands like Bloc Party or Foals even graced us, so it's refreshing to hear some boys from Belfast knock it out of the park like Two Door Cinema Club do. The band reinvented itself after dropping their initial drummer, and now have a bit of an electropop flourish — something many DJs noted and latched onto with several versions of their track "Something Good Can Work" topping the Hype Machine charts for a few days. Openers Gemini Club have also gotten some blog love, and more importantly, live in our fine city. They'll be gracing the Schubas stage tonight at 8pm — tickets are $10 apiece and it's 18 and up.

UPDATE: You might think yourself removed from the plight of Europe being sans air travel due to volcano ash, but now Eyjafjallajokull is Eyjafjallajokilling your evening plans as well. Two Door Cinema Club's flight has been cancelled and will not make the show. From the Schubas website: "Ticket holders will be emailed with more details in the coming hours as we sort them out. There will be a show in some form, but Two Door Cinema Club will not be a part of it." (We'll update as we get more information.) [Another Update] Chicago bands Gemini Club and Blah Blah Blah will play tonight. It's free if you're already a ticket holder for the Two Door Cinema Club show, and $5 if you're not. Details. 9pm, 18+
