Slow Food Chicago's Brewmasters Dinner @ Uncommon Ground

Max Weinberg Big Band @ SPACE

Max Weinberg, the former leader of Conan O'Brien's late night band and drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band brings his new incarnation to SPACE tonight. Show starts at 7pm. Tickets range from $30 to $62. 1245 Chicago Ave., Evanston.

Essay Fiesta @ Book Cellar

It's the third Monday of the month, which means Essay Fiesta time at the Book Cellar. Essay Fiesta brings together a cross-section of Chicago's art and writing communities for a night of first-person, non-fiction essays and charity. Tonight features 2nd Story literary director Megan Stielstra, Neo-Futurist alum and playwright Andy Bayiates, stand-up comic Kelsie Huff, Story Club host and producer Dana Norris, and author and humorist Tom Wolferman. A representative from Howard Brown Health Center, one of the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) organizations, will be present to speak about the organization's critical service offerings. Dosh @ Edible Audible Picnic

Grab your lunch and take it to Pritzker Pavilion at noon for an Edible Audible Picnic.Dosh's sound is a unique hybrid combining electro-acoustic music, traditional rock instruments and the use of live sampling techniques to create loop-based compositions onstage. Dosh layers percussion-heavy concoctions from an array of gadgets carefully placed around the stage. As an artist, Martin Luther King Dosh, a collaborator with Andrew Bird, is joined by Michael Lewis, who contributes to the recordings and performs live on saxophone, electric piano, and electric bass and is also a regular member Bird's crew. Dosh's will be playing Millennium Park in support of his fifth full-length album, Tommy, recently released on the Anticon label.

Engines Trio @ Skylark

Creative music and free jazz series Ratchet takes place every Monday at Skylark in Pilsen. Tonight they present Engines Trio with Dave Rempis on saxophones, Nate McBride on bass and Tim Daisy on drums. 10pm. Free. 2149 S. Halsted St.

The Books with Via Tania @ Downtown Sound in Millennium Park

The New York based duo The Books (Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong) have been on the forefront of electronic folk for over ten years. Their library of recorded sound samples includes a quickly growing collection of video, which they intend to use on stage as well as in installations and film. Their new album, The Way Out, will hit stores this spring. Tonight they play the Downtown Sound series with Chicago based Sydney native, Via Tania. 7:30pm (note late start time). Pritzker Pavilion.
