Anti-Cruelty Annual Canine Cruise

Anthony Bourdain @ Harold Washington Library

Anthony Bourdain, host of No Reservations and foodie extraordinaire, will discuss and sign copies of his latest book, Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook, the long awaited follow-up to Kitchen Confidential. Medium Raw tracks Bourdain's professional journey from his early days as a cook to the culinary tour guide we all know and love. Quintron & Miss Pussycat @ Empty Bottle

Chicago Underground Film Festival opening night @ Gene Siskel Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center hosts the 17th annual Chicago Underground Film Festival, which starts this evening with the premiere screening: The Wild Hunt from 2009, a Canadian film set in the world of LARPs. Animal Care and Control Benefit @ Durkin's

Eat and drink away for a stray! Durkin's (810 West Diversey) hosts a benefit for Chicago Animal Care and Control tonight from 6-9pm. The $25 admission includes drafts, wine, well drinks, soda and pizza.

Switchback Books @ Irish Eyes Pub

The ladies who run Switchback Books will be bartending at Irish Eyes Pub (2519 N Lincoln Ave) tonight, with all tips to benefit Switchback. Third Coast Listening Room: Stories About Music @ Stop Smiling Storefront

Tonight, the Third Coast International Audio Festival and the Chicago Independent Radio Project will present "Third Coast Listening Room: Stories about Music" at the Stop Smiling Storefront (1371 N. Milwaukee). Third Coast Artistic Director Julie Shapiro and CHIRP DJ Dr. Drase will offer radio stories covering a range of music topics. World Kitchen Learning Series: Land of the Midnight Sun

April Pollard Opening @ Kokorokoko

Come out this evening at 5pm to check out April Pollard's work at Kokorokoko, 1112 N. Ashland Ave! April's work features dismembered limbs and eye balls, prints of her fingers and hand. She incorporates illustration and printmaking, seamlessly creating landscapes from body parts.

Crooklyn @ Hamilton Park

Spike Lee plays an addict named Snuffy in his semi-autobiographical film, the 1994 urban tale Crooklyn. Distinguished by its vintage 1970s rap track and characters with names like Tommy La La, the PG-13 film will be playing at 8:30 tonight at Hamilton Park as part of the Park District's Movies in the Parks this summer. I Am Deeply Rooted @ Merle Reskin Theatre

At 7:30pm at Merle Reskin Theatre, 60 E. Balbo Dr., for their 15th anniversary concert Deeply Rooted Dance Theater presents a performance entitled I Am Deeply Rooted.
