Veggie Bingo @ Hideout
The fine folks who brought you the weekly fundraiser soup-eating slurp-a-thon Soup and Bread (along with NeighborSpace) have taken their interests to a new activity...bingo. Veggie Bingo runs every Wednesday at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia). Event begins at 6pm; cards are $1 each, or 6 for $5. Proceeds benefit Chicago community gardens. Event runs weekly through September 29.
Copacabana @ The Portage Theater

LaDonna Redmond @ Northwestern University
LaDonna Redmond, a community food security activist working on the city's west side, lectures at Northwestern's Hughes Auditorium (303 E. Superior, 1st floor) tonight from 6-7:30pm. Redmond is President and CEO of The Institute for Community Resource Development, which converts Chicago 's vacant lots into grow sites, creates farmers' markets, and works to influence food policy. Event is free but an emailed RSVP encouraged.
Grant Park Orchestra with Horacio Gutierrez @ Millennium Park
The Grant Park Music Festival spends an evening exploring the legacy of national traditions includes Saint-Saëns' Marche Militaire Francaise, Bizet's vivacious Symphony No.1 and Brahm's Piano Concerto No. 1 interpreted by renowned Cuban-born pianist Horacio Gutierrez. 6:30pm.
