Orion Ensemble marks the opening of its 18th season, with Robert Schumann's Fantasy Pieces for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 73, Astor Piazzolla's tango-influenced Four Seasons of Buenos Aires for Violin, Cello and Piano (1965), and Ludwig Van Beethoven's Trio in C Minor for Violin, Viola and Cello, Op. 9, No. 3. Chicago publisher Haymarket Books is celebrating the release of their new book Floodlines, on resistance in post-Katrina New Orleans. In addition to hearing from the book's author, Jordan Flaherty, there will be art, poetry, a DJ, and readings by inmates from the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. It's at 2229 S. Halsted at 8pm, with a $5 suggested donation (free for students).
