24 Hour HORROR MOVIE MARATHON @ Roxaboxen Exhibitions

Another 24 Hour Film Fright Fest in the city...and this time it's free! Pilsen-art space Roxaboxen Exhibitions hosts a demonic daylong excursion into the dark side of cinema, with "such fiercely violent and depraved films" such as:

Ag47 Meet & Greet @ Grace UMC

The Logan Square arts mentoring organization Ag47 (previously discussed in A/C) is recruiting girls aged 11-16. At this "make and take" event, girls will get to tackle a short creative project, while their parents are encouraged to meet the mentors and find out more about this year's program. Applications for girls who want to participate are also due by the end of the day: they're available for download on Ag47's site. The event will take place from 4-6pm at Grace United Methodist Church, 3325 W. Wrightwood. Contact Ag47 via email with any questions.

Joffrey Ballet "All Stars" @ Auditorium Theatre

The Joffrey Ballet opens their 2010-2011 Season with "All Stars," a performance featuring George Balanchine's Stravinsky Violin Concerto (1972), an homage to Igor Stravinsky; Balanchine's brief but explosive pas de deux Tarantella; Christopher Wheeldon's After the Rain (2005); and Jerome Robbins' charming and hilarious The Concert (1956). The performance takes place at 2 pm at Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy. Tickets are $25-145, and available for purchase at The Joffrey Ballet's official Box Office, located in the lobby of 10 E.
