Two With Water Rx Reading Series @Beauty Bar

Two With Water 's Rx Reading Series @Beauty Bar is the by-product of collaboration between Chicago literary magazine Two With Water and Curbside Splendor Publishing, a new, local small press.

This month's readings uses the theme of "b(u)y-product," or unconstrained interpretations of the approaching holiday decadence.

The evening begins with a brief open-mic- arrive early to sign-up for 5ish minute time slots.
Featured readers are Ben Tanzer, Luis Humberto Valadez, and Miranda Barnes.

Free. Doorbusters for the first 20 shoppers audience members to arrive.

Sesame Street double feature @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a month-long tribute to Jim Henson and the Muppets. This afternoon they are presenting a double feature, with two Muppets-related programs. At 2pm the theater will present Sesame Street at 40, a 80-minute best-of compilation featuring an appearance in the theater by Fran Bill, who performs Zoe on Sesame Street. And at 3:45pm, the Film Center will screen the feature film Follow That Bird. You may buy tickets for each program separately, or purchase tickets for both programs at a reduced rate. 57th Annual Chicago Powwow @ Navy Pier

The American Indian Center of Chicago presents the 57th annual Chicago Powwow, this year held in the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom (600 East Grand Ave). The event will feature traditional dance and drumming contests and more than 40 authentic arts and crafts vendors and native food vendors. Doors open at 10 a.m.; dancing runs from noon-5 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 6-12 and seniors (55+). Students and groups receive a $2 discount. $18 for a weekend pass.
