Newberry Book Fair

The 28th annual Newberry Book Fair runs July 26-29 at the Newberry Library, 60 W. Walton St. Browse more that 120,000 used books for sale, most for under $2. Admission is free. The fair runs from 10am to 6pm today.

Randolph Street Market

The Randolph Street Market is this weekend, July 28-29 at Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington St. Browse antiques from more than 200 dealers inside and outside the hall from 10am to 6pm today -- and this year there's also a vinyl record swap meet, gourmet food market and "global goods bazaar." Admission is $8 in advance online, $10 at the door ($3/$5 for students).

Triple Crown of Yo-Yo

The Triple Crown of Yo-Yo holds its finals in Wrigley Square corner of Millennium Park, near Randolph and Michigan, showcasing the top yo-yo masters in the country. The event runs from 10am to 4pm, with free yo-yo lessons from 11am to 2pm. Free.

Chicago Cultural Plan Town Hall

A town hall discussion of the draft Chicago Cultural Plan will be held tonight from 10am to noon at St. Augustine College-Essanay Studios, 1345 W. Argyle St. It's free to attend, but RSVP is requested.

Wicker Park Fest

Wicker Park Fest shuts down Milwaukee Avenue from North to Paulina today and Sunday from noon to 10pm. Dozens of bands, plenty of food and drink, and vendors of various sorts will give you plenty to do. There will also be an arts festival component featuring Red Moon Theatre and the Defibrillator Gallery and a Kids Fest in the Walgreen's parking lot at 1372 N. Milwaukee Ave. from noon to 6pm. $5 donation requested.

Celebrate Clark Street Festival

The seventh annual Celebrate Clark Street Festival runs today and Sunday on Clark Street between Morse and Touhy. Enjoy music and dance from Latin America, Africa and elsewhere on two stages, plus international food and vendors. Suggested donation is $5 per person, $10 per family. The festival runs from 1pm to 11pm today.

Brain Frame One Year Anniversary

Brain Frame comics reading celebrates its one year anniversary Saturday July 28 with creator Lyra Hill and a cast that includes Andy Burkholder , Mairead Case (collaborating with David Lasky), Ian McDuffie, Nicholas O'Brien and Leslie Weibeler. The show begins at 8pm, at the Gallery formerly known as Happy Dog, 1542 N Milwaukee ave. 2nd floor.

Facets Night School: Yor, the Hunter From the Future

Facets Cinematheque continues its summer session of Facets Night School, a series of midnight screenings paired with lectures and conversations about cult films. Tonight's film is the bizarre 1983 film Yor, The Hunter from the Future, with plenty of sci-fi, mummies, robots, and who knows what else. Tonight's lecturer is Jef Burnham, editor of FilmMonthly.com.
