IPA Day @ Franklin Tap

Franklin Tap, 325 S. Franklin St., is celebrating National IPA Day by offering five IPAs for $6 each all day today. Barfly IPA, Bell's Two-Hearted IPA, Finch Threadless IPA, Revolution Brewing Anti-Hero IPA, Ska Modus Hoperandi are $6 a pint all day.

Rose Laws @ Uncharted Books

Tonight, Rose Laws (along with her co-author, Dianna Harris) reads from Gold Coast Madam: The Secret Life of Rose Laws at Uncharted Books in Logan Square. SWOP (Sex Workers Outreach Project) Chicago will also be making an appearance. Uncharted Books, 2630 N. Milwaukee Ave. at 7pm.

Sabrina Chap @ Women & Children First

Tonight at 7:30pm at Women & Children First, 5233 N. Clark St., Sabrina Chap (with guests Kate Bornstein and Stephanie Howell) reads from and signs Live Through This: On Creativity and Self-Destruction, her anthology of essays, artwork and stories dealing with violence against women. Free.

Story Club @ Uncommon Ground on Clark

It's the first Thursday in August, time for a new installment of Story Club. Tonight's lineup includes four open mic slots and readings by featured artists: Clarisse Thorn, author of Confession of a Pickup Artist Chaser; essayist Jen Bosworth; Write Club's Ian Belknap; and Adam Guerino.
