Red Bull Thre3Style Pre-Qualifiers @ Reggie's

The third "pre-qualifier" for the Red Bull Thre3Style World Finals is tonight at Reggie's Rock Club, 2105 S. State St. Turntablists DJ Shub, Nedu Lopez, DJ Bmau, DJ Kostek and DJ Scizzorhands compete to make it to the finals on Saturday at the Metro. Special guests Z-Trip, SKratch Bastid and Jesse De La Pena also perform. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 9pm. 21+

Women Writing About Horrible Things @ Uncharted Books

Tonight is the latest installement of Light of the Male, Dark of the Female: Women Writing About Horrible Things at Uncharted Books. Reach Out & Read Dinner @ PQM

Reach Out and Read Illinois holds a benefit dinner at Publican Quality Meats, 825 W. Fulton Market, tonight at 7pm. Tickets are $135.

Blues Traveler @ Navy Pier

Blues-rock band Blues Traveler plays a free show on the patio of Harry Caray's Tavern at Navy Pier tonight. The band will be playing songs from their new album, Suzie Cracks the Whip, as well as some of their most popular songs. A limited number of free tickets will be distributed, starting at 11am. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the show starts at 7:30pm.

The Casual Vacancy Release Party @ Open Books

Tonight, Open Books celebrates J. K. Rowling's new for-adults book The Casual Vacancy with a Harry Potter costume contest (grand prize is two tickets to Potted Potter), live music by Tonks and the Aurors, readings by Rachel Bertsche, Michael Beckett and Sheila Johnson, a visit by the Samich Box and 20% discounts on used books and pre-orders of The Casual Vacancy. "Men Below the Belt" @ Early to Bed

Tonight at 8pm Early to Bed, 5232 N. Sheridan Rd., hosts a workshop titled "Men Below the Belt," explaining a few things about male anatomy for woman-identifying folks only. Cost is $20 per person, or $35 for two.
