Modern Vintage Chicago

Randolph Street Market's Modern Vintage Chicago show runs today and Sunday in the Plumber's Hall, 1340 W. Washington St. Browse vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories from dozens of vendors from 10am to 6pm. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. You can also get special early access at 9am today for $20 in advance, $25 at the door.

Home Movie Day

The Chicago Film Archives hosts the 10th annual Home Movie Day at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., today from 11am to 3pm. Bring your 16mm, 8mm and Super-8 home movies, and local archivists will hand inspect the films and project them in front of a live audience. Or just come watch these slices of other people's lives. Free.

Drinking and Writing Festival @ Haymarket Pub and Brewery

Today is the 8th annual Drinking and Writing Festival (this year's theme: The Beats), hosted by Neo-Futurists Steve Mosqueda and Sean Benjamin, hosts of the Drinking and Writing Brewery Radio Show (Sundays at 6pm on WLUW). Haymarket Pub and Brewery, 737 W. Randolph, noon to 6pm. Tickets are $30 and include admission to all events and an opportunity to sample all the beers.

CHAOS Brew Club Harvest Fest

CHAOS Brew Club holds its annual Harvest Fest today at its brew house, 1329 W. Grand Ave., off the alley. From 3 to 8pm, enjoy home-brewed beer and cider, plus sweet and savory foods like apple pulled pork sliders and pumpkin pie. Membership is required, but you can buy a trial membership for just $25. 21+

The Great Fire: a Traveling Truck Show

The Great Fire: a Traveling Truck Show pulls into West Town today, setting up its stage at 1837 W. Hubbard St. A sideshow featuring local vendors and performers begins at 6pm, with the main stage acts beginning at 7pm. Free. More details here.

Windy City Rollers

Come watch your Windy City Rollers gear up for the 2012 WFTDA Championships at their last home bout of the 2012 season. At 6pm, the Rollers' B-team the Second Wind, will face off against the Paper Valley Roller Girls of Appleton, WI. Directly after, the A-team, the WCR All-Stars, take on Indianapolis' Naptown Roller Girls, who finished third in the WFTDA North-Central regional tournament.The bouts take place at the UIC Pavilion, 525 S. All Stars of Comedy @ Arie Crown Theater

Yonder Mountain String Band @ HOB

Malort & Cheap Beer Festival

Paddy Long's, 1028 W. Diversey Ave., hosts a Malort and Cheap Beer Festival tonight at 9pm. Enjoy $2 cheap beers from around the country, $3 shots of Malort, and a variety of games such as a Malort slogan contest and a flavor description contest. The entire Jeppson's Malort team will be on hand to meet the fans and a Malort historian will be presenting the complete oral history of the product as well. No cover, 21+.

Facets Night School: Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2

Tonight Facets Cinematheque continues Facets Night School, their series of cult film screenings paired with lectures and discussions, with a midnight screening of the no-budget film Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2. Tonight's screening will be accompanied by a lecture and discussion by Facets Night School regular Dominic Mayer. Facets Night School runs Saturday nights at midnight through October 27.
