Pegi Young @ Mayne Stage

Singer/songwriter Pegi Young, Neil Young's wife and backup singer, performs at Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave., tonight with her band The Survivors, and local acts Cloudbirds and Patti Rain as openers. Doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets to the show are $20, but you can get up to four tickets free by emailing promo@maynestage.com. 18+ Preview in Transmission.

Chicago Latino Film Festival Opening Night Gala

The 29th annual Chicago Latino Film Festival, organized by the International Latino Cultural Center, runs April 11-25 at the AMC Loews Theatres 600, 600 N. Michigan Ave. Tonight's opening night gala is a tribute to Mexico, beginning with a 6:30pm screening of Cinco de Mayo: The Battle, directed by Rafa Lara. A reception at the River East Arts Center, 435 E. Illinois St., follows at 8:30pm. Tickets are $75 or $65 for ILCC members.

Cinema Slapdown: Flight

Columbia College's Film Row Cinema, 1104 S. Wabash Ave., 8th Floor, hosts Cinema Slapdown, wherein a film is screened and there's a discussion pro and con afterwards.Tonight's film is Flight. The film screens at 7pm. Free.

The Funny Story Show @ LooseLeaf Lounge

This monthly showcase presents funny stories from Chicago comics and storytellers. Audience can put their name in a hat for a chance to tell their own story, and the winner (loudest applause) is invited back as a featured performer. Hosted by Caitlin Bergh, $5, BYOB at LooseLeaf Lounge (2915 N Broadway). 7:30pm.

Chicago Golden Gloves Championships

The Chicago Golden Gloves championship bouts run April 11-13 at the Cicero Stadium,
1909 S. Laramie Ave. in Cicero. Bouts begin at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20-50 per night.

Rhye @ Schubas

One of last year's surprises out of nowhere was Rhye's mesmerizing "The Fall." In 2013, they follow up on one song with an entire album of captivating and moody songs that sound like a collaboration between the XX and Style Council. Rhye headlines Schubas. The show's $15, 18+ and starts at 9PM. Schubas is at the corner of Belmont & Southport.
