Chicago Latino Film Festival

The 29th annual Chicago Latino Film Festival, organized by the International Latino Cultural Center, runs April 11-25 at the AMC Loews Theatres 600, 600 N. Michigan Ave. Today's screenings begin at 4:15pm; see the schedule for full details. Tickets to each film are $11.

Chicago Arts District 2nd Fridays

On the second Friday of every month, the thirty-or-so galleries and creative spaces in the Chicago Arts District at S. Halsted and 18th Streets open their doors to showcase art and artists from Chicago and the world. The opening receptions begin at 6pm and last officially until 10pm, letting viewers get up close with the art and artists for free. Maps are available at the information center at 1821 S. Halsted.

Sarah Hickman @ Red Line Tap

Sarah Hickman, the "official state musician of Texas," performs at the Red Line Tap, 7006 N. Glenwood Ave., with Urban Twang and Christina Trulio opening. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door. Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm. 21+

Chicago Critics Film Festival Opening Night

Tonight is the opening night of the first annual Chicago Critics Film Festival, which runs April 12-14 at the Muvico Rosemont 18, 9701 Bryn Mawr Ave. in Rosemont. Tonight's opening night double feature begins at 7pm and includes Stories We Tell followed by a Q&A with director Sarah Polley and Grow Up, Tony Phillips followed by a Q&A with writer-director Emily Hagins and producer Peter Hall. Tickets for opening night are $25; single-day tickets for Saturday and Sunday are $50 or $80 for both, and full-festival passes are $100.

CAKE FRAME (Fundraiser / Silent Auction) @ Peanut Gallery

The fabulous, annual Chicago Alternative Comics Expo is coming up again this summer, and to prepare for it, they've organized a big fundraising event at Peanut Gallery (1000 N. California Ave.) tonight from 7 to 11pm. There will be a rowdy live auction featuring a whole lot of work by talented local artists (some big names) and live performances by Paul Nudd, Jeremy Pettis, Alyssa Herlocher and Andy Burkholder. Shane Carruth double feature @ Music Box

The Music Box Theatre and The AV Club present a double feature of Shane Carruth's two films, Upstream Color and Primer. Shane Carruth will be in attendance, interviewed by The AV Club's Scott Tobias. Chicago Golden Gloves Championships

The Chicago Golden Gloves championship bouts run April 11-13 at the Cicero Stadium,
1909 S. Laramie Ave. in Cicero. Bouts begin at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20-50 per night.

Chicago Outfit Spaghetti Wrestling @ Double Door

The Chicago Outfit roller derby league holds a spaghetti wrestling fundraiser tonight at Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave. Watch derby girls wrestle each other in, yes, a big mess of spaghetti, and dance music spun by DJ All the Way Kay. Doors open at 8pm, wrestling begins at 9pm. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door. 21+

Chris Tucker @ Chicago Theatre

The Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State St., presents comedian and actor Chris Tucker tonight for two shows, at 8pm and 11pm. Tucker, who gained fame as a stand-up on HBO's "Def Comedy Jam," went on to star in hit movies such as Friday, the Rush Hour film series, Jackie Brown and most recently, the Academy Award-nominated Silver Linings Playbook.
