Sailor Jerry Day @ Cobra Lounge
Sailor Jerry Rum is giving 102 complimentary tattoos to the public in honor of its namesake's birthday Stop by Cobra Lounge, 235 N. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress Performance & Discussion @ MBC
The America's Future Foundation hosts a performance of a new musical work inspired by Robert A. Heinlein's book The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, followed by a discussion of the music and the book with composer Danny Hynds, tonight at 6pm at the Museum of Broadcast Communications, 360 N. Grant Park Music Festival
Looking for great symphonic and choral music this summer? Carlos Kalmar and the Grant Park Orchestra kick off the summer tonight with Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 and Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony. (The Festival continues with Pink Martini on June 19, and Britten's War Requiem on June 28 and 29.) Bring a picnic and a bunch of friends and set up on the Great Lawn of the Pritzker Pavilion. If you can't make it to a performance, the GPMF offers chances to observe the orchestra in rehearsal around midday throughout the summer. Admission is free.
