Wavefront Music Festival

Wavefront Music Festival runs July 5-7 at Montrose Beach, 4400 N. Lakeshore Dr. Headliners tonight include dOP, Danny Tenaglia, James Murphy, Jai Sephora and Xonic; with dozens of artists performing each day, it's easier to just point you to the schedule for the rest. Gates open at 11am, first acts go on at noon. Tickets are $80 for one-day passes ($180 for VIP access); three-day passes are $220, or $350 for VIP.

Studio Ghibli festival @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St., presents a month-long retrospective of Studio Ghibli Films. The fun starts today with a screening of Spirited Away at 3pm, and runs through August 1. American Music Festival @ FitzGerald's

The 33rd annual American Music Festival runs July 3-6 at FitzGerald's, 6615 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Berwyn. Tickets are $30 at the door, with a $5 discount for the first hour after doors; four-day passes are available online only for $100. Kids under 12 are $5, and are welcome until 10pm each day. Doors open today at 4:30pm.

Windy City RibFest

Ribs take over the Lawrence and Broadway intersection this weekend for the Windy City RibFest, which starts at 5pm tonight (Saturday, noon-10pm; Sunday, noon-9pm). Entertainment, arts and crafts for the kids, and of course, the ribs are part of the occasion. Suggested admission $5.

Fatbook & Congregation @ Double Door

Kid Capri @ House of Blues

The House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn, hosts famed hip-hop DJ and producer, Kid Capri, tonight at 10pm. Currently a judge on VH1's "Master of the Mix," Capri became a household name in the 90s during his stint as resident DJ on HBO's "Def Comedy Jam." Since then, he has worked and toured with some of the biggest names in music, including Jay-Z, Madonna, Usher, 50 Cent and many more.
