The Paper Machete

The Paper Machete live magazine this week features special guest Marc Maron as well as special musical guests Bobby Conn and Monica Boubou. Ian Belknap, Chad Briggs, Clark Jones, Al Madrigal, Katie Rich and Julia Weiss fill out the bill, with cabaret music by Justin Hayford. Christopher Piatt hosts. Finch's 2nd Birthday BBQ Bash

Finch's Beer Co., 4565 N. Elston Ave., is holding a barbecue to celebrate its second birthday, and it's open to the public from 3 to 6pm. In addition to its own beers, Finch's will be tapping guest kegs from Pipeworks, Revolution, Lake Effect, Haymarket Pub & Brewery and Metropolitan. Marc Maron @ Mayne Stage

Comedian and podcaster Marc Maron does a four-night stand at Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave., Aug. 1-4, with Adam Burke opening. There are two shows tonight: 8pm (6:30pm doors) and 10pm (9:30pm doors). Tickets are $30. 18+

El Circo Cheapo Cabaret

Aloft runs two performances of its El Circo Cheapo Cabaret circus variety show tonight at 2041 W. Carroll Ave. The 7pm set is kid friendly; the 10pm set is not. Seats on the floor (on mats) are $10, seats in chairs are $15; children under 5 get in free. Reserve tickets here.

Fuckapalozza @ Tonic Room

Tonic Room, 2447 N. Halsted St., hosts Fuckapalooza, a three-day festival alternative to that other one downtown, Thursday through Saturday. Tonight's show includes performances by The New Balance, Honey & The 45's, Psalm One and Nathan Xander; Brian Babylon hosts. Tickets for tonight's show are $10, or get a three-day pass for $25. Cold News @ Studio BE

Cold News, a new comedic news program modeled after "The Daily Show," goes live at 10pm tonight at Studio BE, 3110 N. Sheffield Ave. Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door.

Baroness @ Subterranean

The finest metal band from Savannah, Georgia returns to Chicago for a Lollapalooza aftershow at Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave. Baroness' albums have always been interesting listens and their live shows are tour de forces. They headline with Royal Thunder opening. The show's $20, 17+ and starts at 11pm; doors open at 10pm.
