St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church's annual Greek Fest runs this weekend, Aug. 16-18, in the church parking lot, 2727 W. Winona Ave. There's Greek music and dancing and a marketplace, but really this is a festival about food, and there's plenty of it. $2 donation at the door is requested; bring cash for the food and beverage tents. The fest is open from 5pm to 11pm tonight.
Honey Pot Performance presents "The Guidebook Sessions," an interactive performance inspired by The Negro Motorist Green Book, an independently published guidebook for African-American travelers in the 1930s and '40s. Honey Pot Performance is creating a contemporary version of the Green Book as a resource for the unemployed and working poor, and will distribute copies of the chapbook to participants. The performance takes place in the Polish Triangle at Division, Ashland and Milwaukee from 5 to 5:50pm, then move to the Western Blue Line stop from 6 to 7pm. Free.
Round 3 Productions, 8 Count Productions and Warriors Boxing come together to put on ESPN Friday Night Fights, the first fight card at a Chicago ballpark in 50 years when Sonny Liston knocked out Floyd Patterson at Comiskey Park in 1962. Local light heavyweight Andrzej Fonfara takes on former world titleholder Gabriel Campillo, and heavyweights Artur Szpillka and Mike Mollo square off in a rematch. The event kicks off at the Cell at 6pm, with tickets ranging from $40 to $250.
Danny Black hosts the < href="http://www.hideoutchicago.com/event/325573-god-sex-death-variety-hour-chicago/">God, Sex, Death Variety Hour tonight at 6:30pm at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Chris Bower, Drew Michael, Daniel Shapiro, Mason Johnson, Ray Holleb and Chris Condren take on the titular three topics. $5 at the door. 21+
Black Sabbath continues its reunion tour (with original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler) tonight at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, 19100 S. Ridgeland in Tinley Park. Andrew WK opens. Tickets are $29.50 to $156. Doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7:30pm.
