Lakeview East Festival of the Arts

The Lakeview East Festival of the Arts takes place today and Sunday on Broadway from Belmont to Hawthorne. View works by more than 175 artists, plus live music, cooking demos, and activities for the kids. The festival runs from 10am to 5pm today.

Open Streets

It's not a street fair, but better; this year's Open Streets takes over Milwaukee Avenue from Ashland to Kedzie today from 10am-3pm in the name of exploring different parts of the city, biking, skateboarding and whatever non-car activity floats your boat.

Ella Jenkins @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music welcomes Ella Jenkins, who has been playing and recording music for children for over 50 years. The family concert starts at 11:00am at the concert hall in the school's main building at 4544 North Lincoln Avenue. Riot Fest @ Humboldt Park

Riot Fest returns to Humboldt Park for a weekend of punk rock and carnivalling. The Replacements and the Pixies headline Sunday night. Some two-day and daily tickets are still available. Gates open at 11am, the music starts at 11:30am; full schedule here. Entrances to the festival are on Division at Kedzie and Sacramento. For more information, visit Riot Fest online.

Trib Nation Tour @ Wrigley Field

Join former Cubs beat writer and current Chicago Tribune reporter Paul Sullivan on an exclusive tour of Wrigley Field, including a meet and greet with a former Cub player along with a chance to get on the field and take photos. That afternoon's Cubs/Pirates game taking place in Pittsburgh will be broadcast throughout the stadium during the tour. Tickets are $45 for adults, and $25 for children 12 and under.

Crush in Old Town

Crush in Old Town runs Saturday and today on Wells Street from North to Schiller. Sample dozens of wines as well as several local beers, and enjoy live music and food from Old Town restaurants. There's also a grape-stomping competition at 2pm each day. Admission to the event is free, but passes for tastings cost $40 in advance, $45 on-site, and allow you to sample up to 15 beers or wines. The festival is open from noon to 9pm today.

Mod Mex Dinner @ Frontera Grill

A quartet of chefs (Rick Bayless, Carlos Gaytan of Mexique, Alex Stupak of NYC's Empellon Cocina/Tacqueria and Jorge Vallejo of Mexico City's Quintonil) join forces at 6pm for an evening of cooking at Frontera Grill/Topolobampo (445 N. Clark). Your $175 tickets gets you a great all-inclusive meal; proceeds benefit the Frontera Scholarship at Kendall College.

The Wood Brothers @ Park West

The Wood Brothers celebrate the release of their fifth studio album The Muse with a show at Park West (322 W. Armitage Ave.) tonight. Blues funk meets folk roots with special guests Piers Faccini and Dom Le Nena. Tickets are $20. The show is 18+ and starts at 7:30pm.

Quicksand @ Cobra Lounge

Quicksand rose from New York's tremendous hardcore punk scene in the late '80s and produced some excellent records that are still lauded and sound as fresh as ever. Last year they reunited and now visit Chicago for the second time in 2013 for Riot Fest. They'll headline a Riot Fest aftershow at Cobra Lounge, 235 N. Ashland Ave. The show's $25, 21+ and starts at 10:30pm.
