2013 Mad Dash To Madison
Your 2013 Stanley Cup champs are getting ready to get back into shape and defend their title. Here's your chance to get back into shape and watch them do it. The 2013 Mad Dash to Madison 5K Walk/Run/; 10K Skate kicks off at 5:30pm for the 10K Skate, followed by the 5K Walk/Run at 6:30pm at the United Center, 1901 West Madison Street. Registration can be done through the team's site.
Food-Raiser for Freedom @ Hideout
The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., hosts Food-Raiser for Freedom, a benefit for Illinois Unites for Marriage, tonight from 7pm to 10pm. DJs Steve Albini (Shellac), Tim Mazurek (Lottie + Doof), Rob Miller (Bloodshot Records), Lea Tshilds (Lula, Nightwood) spin, and there will be a cakewalk, silent auction, food trucks and more. State Reps. Greg Harris and Kelly Cassidy will be in attendance. Tickets are $10-50, depending on the level of your generosity. 21+
Once in a Lifetime: Death of a Cheerleader
Everything Is Terrible and saki present Once in a Lifetime, a film screening with live commentary by comedians, at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight at 8pm. The movie is Death of a Cheerleader, and the comedians are Liza Treyger, Megan Gailey, Stephanie Hasz and Katie McVay. Admission is $5. 18+
Savages @ Metro
93XRT's Big Beat presents Savages with Duke Garwood at Metro Chicago (3730 N. Clark Street). This four-woman British post-punk band got it's start in 2011 and quickly gained international success, becoming known for their solid musical chops and wild, trademark live performances. Tickets are $18-19 and the show starts at 9pm, 18+.
