Paul Kahan, Alain Roby and Richard Melman Inducted into 2013 Chefs Hall of Fame
Three Chicago restaurant industry leaders will be honored as inductees into the 2013 Chefs Hall of Fame by the Chicago Culinary Museum tonight: James Beard Award winner and executive chef of soon to be opened Nico, Chef Paul Kahan (2013 Chef of the Year), the brains behind All-Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva, Chef Alain Roby (2013 Pastry Chef of the Year), and Lettuce Entertain You, Richard Melman (2013 Industry Leader of the Year). This event is open to the public, and tickets are $125 each in advance or $149, if available, at the door. Tickets will include a full bar, dinner, and awards presentation.
"Hot Seat: Spoken Word (Re)Generations" @ Co-Prosperity Sphere
Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St., presents "Hot Seat: Spoken Word (Re) Generations," from 6pm-7:30pm tonight. This event, partnered by Young Chicago Authors and in conjunction with the Illinois Humanities Council, will feature performances of original works on race, culture, and society by spoken word artists including Kevin Coval, Kelly Zen-Yie, Tsai, and more. After each performance, the artists will engage in a "hot seat" session, with interviews by fellow artists. Admission is free; online or email registration is required. Sign Painters @ Loyola
Sign Painters, a documentary by filmmakers Faythe Levine and Sam Macon, screens tonight at 6pm at Loyola University's Damen Student Center Cinema, 6511 N. Sheridan Rd. Admission is free for LUC students, $5 for the public.

Los Straightjackets and The Fleshtones visit the Sidebar at FitzGerald's, 6615 W. Roosevelt Rd in Berwyn, tonight on their Mondo Zombie Boogaloo tour (Southern Culture on the Skids won't be in attendance). Tickets are $20 in advance or at the door. Doors open at 7pm, show's at 9pm. Easter Seals hosts a pre-show party for $50, including a ticket to the gig.
