Cute Is What We Aim For headlines an all ages show at the Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake St., tonight, with Turnover and Tallheart opening. Doors open at 5pm, show's at 5:30pm. Tickets are $13 in advance or at the door.

Modern Vintage Chicago

Modern Vintage Chicago show is at the Plumber's Hall, 1340 W. Washington Ave., Oct. 18-20. Shop for vintage clothing, jewelry and accessories by classic designers, as well new fashion, jewelry and accessories by contemporary designers from Chicago and beyond. Tonight from 6 to 8pm is the fashion show preview, themed "Punk & Paper Dolls." Admission, good for all three days, is $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

The God, Sex, Death Variety Hour @ Hideout

The God, Sex, Death Variety Hour returns to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight at 6:30pm. Hosted by Danny Black, the show features musings on the titular topics from Chris Bower, Drew Michael, Daniel Shapiro, Mason Johnson, Ray Holleb and Chris Condren. $5 at the door. 21+

Janeane Garofalo @ Mayne Stage

Actor/comedian/political commentator Janeane Garofalo does two nights at Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave., tonight and Saturday, with Dave Hill opening. There are two shows each night, at 8 and 10:30pm. Doors open an hour before each show. Tickets are $30. 18+

Inside the Artist's Kitchen: First Course

Food blog Inside the Artist's Kitchen presents First Course, tonight from 7 to 11pm at the Chicago Urban Art Society, 600 W. Cermak Ave. The one-night exhibition features photos by blog cofounder Michael Soto alongside works by artists Jaclyn Jacunski, Alberto Aguilar, Edra Soto, Sabina Ott, Regin Igloria, Jeroen Nelemans, Deborah Boardman, Mister Junior and Paola Cabal -- and food from all of the artists' recipes. DJ Shardstyle spins, and workshops ranging from bookbinding to burlesque will be taught. Admission is free.

Glazed & Infused Tasting Party @ City Winery

Glazed & Infused holds a doughnut tasting party at City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St., tonight from 7 to 9pm. Taste custom doughnuts designed to pair with City Winery's house wines, as well as a preview of the shop's fall flavors. Tickets are $60 online or at the door.

Cocorosie @ Metro

Cocorosie play at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., with Busdriver opening. Doors open at 8pm, show's at 9. Tickets are $26. 18+

The Men, Fuzz, Purling Hiss @ Logan Square Auditorium

Twang has been creeping into the Men's garage-punk sound over a few albums now, but it's this year's New Moon where they finally embraced it in full and to great acclaim. It hasn't brought down their raucous shows, though. The Men headline Logan Square Auditorium, 2539 N. Kedzie Blvd., with Fuzz, Purling Hiss and CCR Headcleaner. The show's $12 in advance, $14 at the door, 17+ and starts at 8pm.
