One of a Kind Show and Sale @ Merchandise Mart

The annual One of a Kind Show and Sale runs Thursday through Sunday at the Merchandise Mart, 8th floor. More than 600 juried artists, craftspeople and designers from across North America are showcasing their imaginative, handmade creations, for sale at a wide range of price points. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital. For more information, see the website.

First Friday @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music presents its monthly First Friday event, where the public can sample music and dance classes offered through the school. This month's First Friday also features a holiday crafts bazaar, with items made by the school's teachers, students and volunteers. First Friday starts at 6:00pm in the main building of the school, at 4544 North Lincoln Avenue. Admission is $5 for individuals and $10 for families. First Fridays @ MCA

First Fridays at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave., is from 6 to 10pm tonight. This month's theme is "Summoning a New Queer Reality" and is co-curated by queer dance party Chances Dances. Tickets are $14 in advance, $18 at the door; $10 for members either way. 21+

Tasting Table Open Market

Heather Sperling and Tasting Table presents Open Market, a "two-day artisan food fair" on the third floor of Block 37, 108 N. State St. Tonight from 6 to 9pm, more than 30 chefs will be selling sweet and savory foodstuffs. Tickets are required and cost $6.75 in advance, $8 at the door; VIP tickets get you in an hour earlier (5pm) for $35.57.

Lingerie Trunk Show at Early to Bed

Lingerie is sexy, and locally hand-crafted high-quality lingerie is even sexier. Early to Bed is teaming up with Elide of Previously and Stephanie of Dotties Delights to present some truly gorgeous hand-crafted, locally-made, and trés sexy garters and lingerie. So come see sexy things, cross stuff off your gift- or wish-list, and drink a glass of bubbly at Early to Bed in their new space (5044 N. Clark St.) tonight from 6pm to 10pm.

Birkensnake 6 Participatory Release Party @ Uncharted Books

Chicagoans get their sole chance to snag a copy of one of the six concurrent versions of Birkensnake 6 tonight at Uncharted Books, 2630 N. Milwaukee, at 7pm. Under the guidance of guest editor Megan Milks (who helped put together a volume of "Neverending Tales"), audience members choose the version they'd like to take home and then are assigned to read a piece from it. They--and you?--will also be joined by contributors James Tadd Adcox (The Map of the System of Human Knowledge) and Wyatt Sparks. Free.

Poetry, Music, Comedy & Culture @ Tre's

Tre's, 1526 E. 63rd St., presents The Chocolate Movement's "Poetry, Music, Comedy & Culture" tonight at 8pm. Lloyd Kaufman Troma screening @ Music Box

The Music Box Theatre presents a very special midnight movie experience this weekend: a live appearance by Troma co-founder Lloyd Kaufman, who will be introducing the latest Troma film: Return to Nuke'Em High, a sequel of the 1986 Troma film Nuke Em High.
