Solo in the 2nd City @ Beauty Bar

Come to Beauty Bar, 1444 W. Chicago Avenue, tonight for Solo in the 2nd City at 8pm to witness a hand full of Chicago's talented writers, comedians and authors tell stories of being single, dating and sex in the Windy City. The show is hosted by Carly Oishi and Melinda McIntire. Tonight's featured performers include Brooke Allen, Patrick Allen Carberry, Neil O'Callaghan, Jeremy Owens and Katie Prout. The event is FREE but donations will be collected to benefit Chicago Women's Health Center. (21 +)

Soup & Bread & That's All She Wrote @ Hideout

Live lit and warm soup come together for one night only, when That's All She Wrote and Soup & Bread team up tonight from 5:30 to 8pm at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia. to lend their support to Karen Gerod, owner of Swim Cafe and a key supporter of both S&B and TASW. Karen has been battling cancer for the last year. To give back a bit of the care she has given us, there will be soups from an array of local cooks, including Milk & Honey, Hoosier Mama's Allison Scott, and artist and "Mortified! Chicago" host Shay DeGrandis, followed by readings on the theme of health care and caretaking from Benander, Palmer, Martha Bayne, Tom Wolferman, Sheri Reda and Dmitry Samarov. Music provided by DJ Lawrence Peters. Suggested donation $10; all proceeds will be donated to Karen. For more info visit the Facebook event page.

A Month Of Storytelling Open Mic

A Month Of is a monthly open-mic storytelling series where the audience selects the event's theme online before the show starts. Open mic slots are 5-7 minutes long, all story types and forms are welcome. The show is every second Wednesday at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave., and runs from 7:30 to 10pm. Tickets are $10 for audience members, free for storytellers (or with a food donation). Help select a topic by visiting heresthestory.org.
