An Exploration of Transmigration Closing @ Peanut Gallery

6 String Social @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music presents the final occurrence of their 6 String Social, in which musicians of all instruments and levels are invited to join to sing and play songs. This evening's event is the final one being held in the school's location at 909 West Armitage Avenue, so expect a festive evening of song and merriment. BeerFest @ Union Station

LivingSocial hosts BeerFest, a two-day festival of craft beer, tonight and Saturday in the Great Hall at Union Station, 500 W. Jackson St. Your $35 ticket allows you to sample from more than 80 beers, wines and ciders, play fun interactive games and listen to DJs. Food will be available at additional cost. The festival runs from 7 to 10pm tonight; $59 VIP admission gets you in an hour earlier. 21+

Gapers Block Holiday Party @ GMan Tavern

Join Gapers Block staff and friends at GMan Tavern (formerly known as the Gingerman), 3740 N. Clark St., tonight from 7pm till midnight-ish. We'll have $4 Shiners, hosted rum Manhattans and rum-and-gingers compliments of Rhum Clément, plus live sets by the Blind Staggers. A Band Called Death @ Reggies

Reggies, 2105 S. State St., hosts a screening of the documentary A Band Called Death tonight at 7pm. The screening is free, and if you bring art supplies to donate to after-school arts program Graffiti Zone, you'll be entered in a raffle to win a pair of VIP tickets to see Death at Reggies on New Year's Eve. 21+

The Bad Plus @ Jazz Showcase

The Bad Plus, the trio known for its jazz covers of rock music ranging from Black Sabbath to Tears for Fears, plays the second of four nights tonight at Jazz Showcase, 806 S. Plymouth Ct. There are two shows, at 8pm and 10pm. Tickets are $30 or $45 for VIP seating.

The Bottle Hop @ Empty Bottle

The Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., hosts its first annual Bottle Hop holiday dance party tonight at 9pm. The Congregation headline, the Tenders and the the Chandelier Swingers in support and DJ Dan Maloney spinning in between sets. Tickets are $10 online or at the door. 21+
