Adler After Dark: Season of Wonder

The Adler Planetarium, 1300 S. Lake Shore Dr., hosts Adler After Dark tonight from 6 to 10pm. The theme this month is "Season of Wonder," with Chicago Cultural Alliance partners showcasing their cultural holiday traditions and craft work in a holiday marketplace, as well as an ugly holiday sweater contest, in addition to the usual live music and drinks. Tickets are $15 in advance ($10 for members), $20 at the door ($15 for members). Tours of the Doane Observatory are an extra $5.

Post Prohibition Chicago @ 1871

Chicago Lean Startup Circle presents Post Prohibition Chicago, featuring beverage startups sharing their stories, tonight from 6 to 9pm at 1871, 222 W. Merchandise Mart. Featured speakers include Koval's Sonat Birnecker Hart, Hopothesis Beer Company's Jeff Bergau, TailWinds' Toby Beall, Few Spirits' Paul Hletko, CraftHouse's Matt Lindner, GreaterThan's Mark Sider and Quincy Street's Derrick Mancini. Samples of the speakers' drinks will be served along with apps. Tickets are $15 early bird, $20 in advance, and $25 after Dec. 16. Free membership in the Chicago Lean Startup Circle Meetup group required. 21+

DIY Messiah @ Harris Theater

Can you Handel it? Join up with musicians and a conductor to churn out a holiday classic tonight at 7pm at the Harris Theatre for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive. Tickets $15.

The Bad Plus @ Jazz Showcase

The Bad Plus, the trio known for its jazz covers of rock music ranging from Black Sabbath to Tears for Fears, plays the first of four nights tonight at Jazz Showcase, 806 S. Plymouth Ct. There are two shows, at 8pm and 10pm. Tickets are $30 or $45 for VIP seating.

Mark Kozelek @ Lincoln Hall

Mark Kozelek of Sun Kill Moon and the Red House Painters does a solo show at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight at 8pm. Tickets are $20 in advance, $23 at the door. 21+
