Northwestern's Center for the Writing Arts welcomes novelist and NU Professor of English Chris Abani for a reading and booksigning of his latest novel, The Secret History of Las Vegas, tonight at 5:30pm in Harris Hall, Room 108, 1881 Sheridan Rd. in Evanston. Light refreshments will be served, followed by a reading and Q&A. Free.
Volunteer chefs serve up soup tonight from 5:30-8pm at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia) at this weekly benefit for food pantries/hunger relief organizations in the area (a different one is selected each week). Show up, eat, and donate what you can. Free.
Schubas Tavern has a very special show this Saturday with Norway's Ane Brun and Sweden's Linnea Olssen. This is an early show and the show starts at 7pm.
